Graduate Student Policies
A patron must present his/her Marietta College ID to the circulation assistant to check out books or audiovisual materials. The barcode on the ID identifies the patron as an eligible library borrower and defines his/her circulation privileges. The patron who checks out a book or audiovisual material is responsible for it. Patrons are advised not to lend either library materials checked out to them or their Marietta College ID card. The Marietta College ID card may also be used to check out materials from another OhioLINK institution. Call the circulation desk at ext. 4757 if you have questions about circulation privileges.

Any Marietta College Library materials that are checked out to library patrons are subject to immediate recall if necessary. With the exception of reserve materials, fines are not charged on Marietta College Library materials if they are returned past their due date.
* Extended loan periods may be granted to students who are engaged in honors projects and/or investigative studies.
Overnight reserves may be checked out three hours before the library closes and must be returned the next business day within one hour after the library opens. No more than five reserves may be checked out to one patron at a time. Reserve materials cannot be renewed. FINES ARE CHARGED ON OVERDUE RESERVE MATERIALS.
A patron will receive a maximum of two overdue notices. After two notices, a patron is sent a bill for replacement costs of each unreturned item. In addition to the replacement charge, the bill includes a processing fee of $10.00 and a NON-REFUNDABLE billing fee of $3.00 for each unreturned item. The schedule of replacement costs is outlined above.
Replacement costs of personal items on reserve are determined by the owner. Charges for damaged library materials are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Mutilations and Theft
Under Sec. 2935.041 of the Ohio Revised Code, a person suspected of theft
or mutilation of Library materials may be detained by a library staff
member either to recover the property or to wait until the proper authorities
arrive on site. Mutilation of library materials is handled on a case-by-case
basis.
Materials Borrowed Through OhioLINK
If an item borrowed through
OhioLINK is returned after its due date, a fine of $.50 per day is charged.
NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY WILL BE MADE. Patrons
will receive overdue notices and a bill if materials are not returned.
Patrons who incur $10 in OhioLINK fines and fees will lose the privilege
of borrowing materials through OhioLINK. If the book is returned, the
$75 replacement fee is credited. The $50 billing fee is NON-REFUNDABLE
and must be paid. These fees are established by OhioLINK.
Marietta College
Library and OhioLINK fines and fees are billed to a student's College
account. If a book or AV material is returned AFTER a student receives
a bill, the replacement and processing fees will be waived. The student
must still pay the $3 billing fee for materials owned by
Marietta College Library or the $25 billing
fee for materials borrowed through OhioLINK. To receive a credit for paid
replacement and processing fees, a student must return the library materials
within the same academic year in which the bill for lost or unreturned
materials was issued. Charges for damaged library materials are handled
on a case-by-case basis.
