1. What is the Marietta College Library Catalog?

Marietta College Library uses the Innovative Interfaces, Inc. system to organize and manage its collection of almost 250,000 books, journals, government documents, and media. Library patrons may search by author, title, author/title, subject, call number, journal title, or keyword. Students can check class reserves and connect to electronic reserves in the catalog. Any patron may View their Library Record to see materials they have checked out, when they are due and renew the materials if possible. Location information will show where the item is shelved.

The Reference staff will assist patrons in learning how to use the catalog and some of its special features.

2. What is OhioLINK?

The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK) is a consortium of 90 Ohio college & university libraries and the State Library of Ohio. OhioLINK membership includes access to a central catalog of institutional holdings (OhioLINK Library Catalog), selected online indexes, full-text databases, reference tools, ebooks, & image collections . OhioLINK provides user-initiated online borrowing through the OhioLINK Library Catalog. Your Marietta College ID is required for patron authentication to borrow materials through OhioLINK. Books may be borrowed for 21 days plus four 21-day renewals (as long as another user has not requested the item) and media (AV & microforms), for 7 days plus three 7-day renewals. Materials are usually received in 3-5 days. Fines of $.50/day are charged on overdue OhioLINK materials. Journal articles must be requested through interlibrary loan. In addition, you can search more than 100 online indexed & full-text databases through the Marietta College Library. All online products can be accessed from your room or office and from home via remote patron authentication. To access the products, select Articles on the library home page. The OhioLINK Library catalog is available from the library's home page or directly through the Marietta College Library Catalog nearly 50 million library items available in the Central Catalog including materials from several public libraries in the state.


3. How do I renew items online?

A patron may renew library materials that he/she has checked out by selecting View Your Library Record from the Services & Forms menu on the library's home page. At the prompt, a patron should type his/her name and barcode number on the Marietta College ID. The patron can view Items Currently Checked Out. From the list of currently checked out items, a patron can renew materials and check for overdue materials. The patron should follow the directions on the screen to renew currently checked out books that are renewable under system guidelines.

4. How do I know when my OhioLINK materials are availabe?

An email notice is sent to your on-campus email address to notify you that OhioLINK items are available for pickup at the circulation desk. Additionally, a patron may review items requested through OhioLINK by selecting View Your Library Record from the Services & Forms menu on the library's home page. At the prompt, a patron should type his/her name and barcode number on the Marietta College ID. The patron can select Requests (Holds) . From the list of requests (holds) outstanding, a student can see the current status of their OhioLINK request(s) as well as cancel it if it is no longer needed. Ask at the circulation desk or call 740-376-4757 if you have questions about these procedures.

5. What are the library's hours?

6. How do I make a request for an item or article not available at the library or through OhioLINK?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is for students and employees of Marietta College. ILL requests are appropriate when the item is unavailable in the Marietta College Libary or through the OhioLINK consortium.

Making an ILL Request
Copies of articles in journal titles not owned by Marietta College Library CANNOT be requested through the OhioLINK Central Catalog. Requests for these articles must be submitted to Interlibrary Loan. Interlibrary loan (ILL) request forms are available at the reference desk in Legacy Library or online. Allow 7 to 14 days to receive materials.
Notification
Photocopies of requested articles are mailed to a patron's campus mailbox. A postcard will be mailed to a patron's mailbox to notify him/her when a requested book has arrived. Please pick up ILL books at the circulation desk. You will need your Marietta College ID. Renewal of ILL books can be granted only by the lending institution.

7. How do I determine what IP I am using to access Library Information and Resources?

8. What is Remote Authentication?

Marietta College Library provides remote patron authentication in order for students and faculty to search most OhioLINK and Marietta College databases from home. If you cannot connect using the name or URL of the database from the OhioLINK web site, click on the link marked more... and a proxy URL is listed below the direct URL. Copy and paste this URL into your browser search box and you should be connected to the Remote Authentication page at OhioLINK. Users can also authenticate by going to auth.ohiolink.edu. Users will need to select Marietta College and then enter their name and barcode from their Marietta College ID. If you cannot gain access to an OhioLINK database, please contact the library by either calling 740-376-4543 or

9. How do I print from GoPrint without my ID?

In order to print from GoPrint without your ID, print your document like normal. Choose a GoPrint printer in the library. Then go to the following webaddress and enter your username and password and release your document. Pick up your print at the printer. There is no need to release the print job on the screen at the printer station.
