Instructions for Using ScanPro 1000

Using Microfilm

  1. Turn on the ScanPro unit using the toggle switch at the back of the machine.

  2. Before you place your film onto the carrier unit of the ScanPro machine, make sure the glass plates are centered so that they won’t break when you pull out the unit. Do not force the glass plate open if it is hitting the metal carriage.

  3. Thread the microfilm onto the carrier unit using the instructions below:

  1. Log onto the computer using your MC username and password

  2. When you get to the Windows desktop, click on the Start button > Programs > Power Scan > Power Scan

  3. Use the film control   at the bottom of the screen to move the film forward and backward to find the information you need.. NOTE:  You may also have to adjust the carrier unit on the ScanPro machine so that the film is viewable on the computer screen.

  4. If necessary, save or print the pages you need. For instructions on printing microfilm images, see Printing Images. For instructions on saving images, see Saving Images to a USB drive

  5. When you are finished using the ScanPro1000, please do the following:
    1. Rewind the microfilm using the film control
    2. Exit out of the PowerScan software and log off the computer
    3. TURN OFF THE SCANPRO UNIT using the toggle switch at the back.
    4. Put the microfilm back in its box and place it in the yellow basket on top of the microform cabinets.

Using Microfiche

  1. Turn on the ScanPro unit using the toggle switch at the back of the machine.

  2. Before you place your fiche onto the carrier unit of the ScanPro machine, make sure the glass plates are centered so that they won’t break when pull you out the unit. Do not force the glass plate open if it is hitting the metal carriage.

  3. To place microfiche onto the machine:
    1. Carefully pull the carrier unit handle toward you until the top glass plate flips up.
    2. Put microfiche face down between top and bottom glass plates.
    3. Gently push the carrier unit handle back until the top glass plate rests flat against the bottom glass plate.

  4. Log onto the computer using your MC username and password

  5. When you get to the Windows desktop, click on start button > Programs > Power Scan > Power Scan

  6. To find the information you need on the fiche, move the carrier unit on the ScanPro machine left, right, up, or down until the information appears on the computer screen.

  7. If necessary, save or print the pages you need. For instructions on printing microfilm images, see Printing Images. For instructions on saving images, see Saving Images to a USB drive.

  8. When you are finished using the ScanPro1000:
    1. Carefully remove the microfiche from the carrier unit..
    2. Exit out of the PowerScan software and log off the computer
    3. TURN OFF THE SCANPRO UNIT using the toggle switch at the back.
    4. Put the microfiche in the yellow basket located on top of the microform cabinets.

Printing Images

  1. Click on the Print button on the left side of the PowerScan screen.

  2. Select Library Basement Kyocera... and click OK.



  3. Click on the GoPrint logo located in the Windows system tray (bottom right of the desktop screen)

  4. Enter your Marietta College username and password and click Sign In

    .

  5. Check in the box next to the file name you want to print and click Pay and Print



  6. Click on Sign Out



  7. Retrieve your printout from the printer. The printer is located behind the ScanPro workstation.

Saving Images to a USB Drive

  1. Click on the Scan button on the left side of the PowerScan screen.

  2. Minimize the PowerScan window

  3. Click on the MyScans folder on the Windows desktop.

  4. Select the open document you want to save.



  5. Select File > Save a Copy and click OK.



  6. Click on the Save In: drop-down box, select your USB drive, and click Save.
