Introducing Jeanne Catalano, Circulation Supervisor
Beginning in late July, there has been a new face behind the circulation desk at the Legacy Library. Following Susan Dyer's retirement this summer, the Library has hired Ms. Jeanne Catalano as Circulation Supervisor. She began work on July 22nd. For several weeks, Susan Dyer has been working with Ms. Catalano to smoothe the transition in the department and orient her to the department's responsibilities.
"I have very big shoes to fill," said Ms. Catalano, "but I am excited for the opportunity to serve the Marietta College community."
The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the department tasked with charging and discharging of library materials to students, faculty, staff, and other patrons. Additionally the department maintains the print and electronic closed reserve collections as well as the circulating collection stacks.
"We interviewed several well qualified candidates for the position of Circulation Supervisor," said Dr. Douglas Anderson, Director of the Legacy Library. "Jeanne stood out with her enthusiasm, her strong background in academic libraries, and the ideas she had for developing a sense of teamwork among the circulation desk student staff."
Ms. Catalano had been in a similar position at West Virginia University at Parkersburg, where she had worked since 2003. Prior to that, she had worked with ACEnet in Athens. During 1995-2001, she had served as Coordinator of Instructional Media in the W.L. Lyons Brown Library at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
Ms. Catalano holds a Master's of Education degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Louisville and a BA in Education from Wilmington College in Ohio.
