Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is for students and employees of Marietta College. ILL requests are appropriate when the item is unavailable in the Marietta College Library or through the OhioLINK consortium.
Copies of articles in journal titles not owned by Marietta College Library CANNOT be requested through OhioLINK. Requests for these articles must be submitted to the interlibrary loan office.
In order for a request to be processed, the ILL form must be written/printed legibly and filled out completely. Allow 7 to 14 days to receive materials.
Photocopies of requested articles are mailed to a patron's campus mailbox. A postcard is sent to a patron's mailbox to notify him/her when a requested book has arrived. Books received on interlibrary loan are held at the library's circulation desk for pick-up. A patron must show his/her Marietta College ID in order to pick up ILL materials.
Renewals of books borrowed on interlibrary loan can only be granted by the lending library. A request for renewal must be made prior to the due date of the loan period. To request an extension of the loan period, a patron should inquire at the reference desk. Marietta College Library staff cannot renew items borrowed from another library through interlibrary loan.
Patrons will be charged for interlibrary loan requests requiring special handling or faxing of ILL requests and materials. Fees are assessed on a case-by-case basis. If a patron fails to pick up requested materials or is late returning borrowed materials, a fine of $5.00 may be assessed. If a book borrowed on interlibrary loan is lost or damaged, the patron will be billed the fees charged to Marietta College Library by the lending library.
