Athletics Department Records

Athletics have been a presence at Marietta College since its founding. Throughout the college’s history, football, baseball, basketball, and crew have remained the most popular sports, although tennis, track, golf, and other sports have maintained a presence on campus. The Marietta College Athletics Department Records contain administrative records, correspondence, promotional materials, and ephemera related to crew, baseball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, and the athletics department as a whole from 1884-2011. Marietta College Scientific Association Ornithological Section Meeting Minutes

The Marietta College Scientific Association, or the MCSA, was a club at Marietta College that focused primarily on scientific research and collecting materials for their library and museum. The Ornithological Section examined ornithological specimens and observed the local bird population. It was active from 1889 through at least 1890. (1 file folder)

Mathematical Society of Marietta College Constitution and Meeting Minutes 

This collection is from the Mathematical Society of Marietta College. Dated from December 1892 - April 1904, this book contains the constitution of the society and the minutes of the meetings. The Mathematical Society of Marietta College was a club for male and female students of Marietta College to present and discuss papers on various mathematical topics and was active from 1890 until at least 1905. The Office of Communication and Brand Management at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio produces promotional materials and offers communications guidance for the college and its departments. The Office of Communication and Brand Management Records contains promotional materials, press releases, and scrapbooks dating from 1860-2008. the bulk of the material in the collection dates from 1985-2008.

Personnel Office Records 

The Personnel Office, now known as they Office of Human Resources, is responsible for overseeing administering employee benefits, some aspects of recruitment, performance management, maintaining the employee handbook, and providing resources to employees among other functions. The Personnel Office Records contain employee handbooks for non-faculty employees Marietta College, a copy of a sexual harassment policy, and the results of a survey of college employees from 1979-1996.

Phi Gamma Omicron Ledger and Bylaws

Phi Gamma Omicron served as the honor society for the Home Economics major at Marietta College from 1959-1966. This collection contains meeting minutes, financial records, and bylaws dating from 1959-1966. (1 file folder)

Student Ephemera Collection 

The Marietta College Student Ephemera Collection contains photographs, scrapbooks, report cards, certificates, and artifacts collected by students at Marietta College. The majority of material in the collection related to these students' time at the college, including academics, social activities, and athletics. The collection also contains a small amount of material related to alumni reunions and other post-graduation activities.

Text Book Association and Band Ledgers

The Marietta College Text Book Association was a group that maintained a library of textbooks, which they lent to Marietta College students for a fee. It was active from at least 1834-1872. The Marietta College Band for Improvement in the Science of Instrumental Music, also known simply as the Band, was a musical organization on the Marietta College campus from at least 1838-1843. The Marietta College Text Books Association and Band Ledgers contains 3 ledgers containing constitutions, meeting minutes, and accounts of loans from 1834-1872.
