Schedule a Consultation

Want to incorporate special collections into your course, but not sure how? Schedule a consultation with the Special Collections Librarian to discuss collections that fit your course, instruction topics, activities, or possible assignments incorporating Special Collections Materials. Sample activities and projects include:

  • Analyze a Primary Source Students work in small groups to analyse a primary source to answer the who, what, why, and when of a document's creation.
  • Finding Aid Scavenger Hunt - Students learn research skills by using a finding aid to locate specific items within an archival collection.
  • It's All About Context - Students are presented with an archival document and tasked with finding and using secondary sources to explain the historical context of their document.

Use Our Materials

Want to incorporate Special Collections Materials into your lectures? Hold your class in the Special Collections reading room where students can work hands-on with archival materials. The reading room has seating for 20 students and is equipped with a computer and projector. Contact the Special Collections Librarian at least one week in advance to reserve the reading room for your class.

Thousands of our archival photographs and documents have been digitized and are available online via our Digital Collections. Additional materials can be digitized by request. Special Collections staff requires at least 3 weeks notice for digitization requests.
